Some Minhagim

Some Minhagim you will see at this minyan and their explanations: There is no Aleinu between Mincha and Kabbolas Shabbos. Anytime Mincha and Maariv are ALWAYS done together, the din is to omit Aleinu. Only the Chazan says Nekadesh at the beginning of Kedusha. This also happens to be the Minhag HaGra and the suggested Minhag in Mishnah Berurah. The reason is apparent, since “Nekadesh” is a summons to Kedusha, it belongs to the Chazan. What to Expect at the Minyan This Week

The Sefira Lecha Dodi. Even though it is used because we want to be less festive during this time (in Frankfurt it seems they used the "Three Weeks" tune supposedly) it happens to be one of the nicest tunes of the whole year. Those who know it, wait for it. The Sefirah Yigdal of Amsterdam. We introduced it last year. Even though KAJ does not sing Yigdal on Shabbos, our little Minyan has adopted this practice- at least when Alexander is here. We are continuing with the 7:1

Our Mission

A group of local mispalelim who wish to create a warm community dedicated to growing in Tefillah and learning about Nusach, Halacha, Minhagim, and Mesorah by Davening in the original Nusach Aschkenaz. While some of us grew up with this Nusach in Washington Heights, Monsey, Europe, and South America, many of us are here learning about the origins of our Tefillos and enjoying the seriousness of this approach. Everyone is welcome!
